Stabilizing A Damp Basement
Challenge
In Glen Rock, PA, a homeowner experienced significant structural issues due to a shifting and sinking foundation, exacerbated by persistent water intrusion. The initial state of the home, as depicted in the first photograph, clearly illustrated the severity of these problems, which threatened the property's overall stability and rendered the basement largely unusable.
Solution
Liberty Basement Systems was enlisted to provide a lasting solution. Our team implemented a multi-faceted approach. To address the foundational instability, we installed robust Push Piers, designed to transfer the home's weight to stable soil strata, effectively lifting and stabilizing the sinking foundation. Complementing this, the PowerBrace System was utilized to provide additional reinforcement to the basement walls, preventing further inward movement and ensuring long-term security.
For the pervasive water intrusion, a comprehensive water management system was put in place. The TripleSafe Sump Pump, a high-capacity pumping system, was integrated with WaterGuard, an innovative sub-floor drainage system. This combination efficiently captures and expels any incoming water, preventing it from accumulating in the basement. The final photograph conveniently showcases the successful outcome: a dry, stable, and structurally sound basement, demonstrating the effectiveness of our integrated solution.
