Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Surface Drainage System Solved Wet Basement Problem in Wilkes-Barre, PA
A Wilkes-Barre, PA homeowner contacted our office after noticing water puddling around the basement door. A free estimate was scheduled and inspector, Frank O. went to examine the damage. Frank immediately noticed a black flexi sealant that was recently painted on the exterior basement door frame. When asked, the homeowner explained that water was coming down the outside basement steps and leaking through the door causing a puddle. She applied the sealant in hopes that it would act as a waterproofing barrier to stop the water from entering. The very next time it rained, the sealant did not work. A permanent solution was needed to fix their wet basement problem for good.
Frank discussed what Basement Systems' products would permanently solve their wet basement problem. Frank decided that installing a TrenchDrain Drainage System, a SuperSump Pump System, an Exterior Discharge Line with the IceGuard System would be the best option to rid the basement of any present and future water problems.
TrenchDrain is a surface drainage system that will prevent water from entering the basement. A trench will be hammered out, and the TrenchDrain will be installed in the doorway. When water flows down the outside basement steps, instead of seeping into the basement, it will flow into the drain and carried to the SuperSump Pump System. An additional TrenchDrain will be installed around the water tank in the basement as well. This is where the homeowner noticed the water puddling. Water that is collected into the TrenchDrain will be drained to the SuperSump Pump System, into the Exterior Discharge Line, and will then be carried away from the home at a safe distance.
Production manager, Aaron Lenker and Liberty Basement Systems general manager, Steve Whitman was the crew for this waterproofing job. The homeowner was very pleased with the outcome of the project. Without a doubt, they will not have to worry about having a wet basement again.

Drainage System
TrenchDrain was placed in the trenches made.
Basement Doorway TrenchDrain
Any water that comes down the steps will be collected into the TrenchDrain. This will ensure no water enters the homeowners basement.
Interior TrenchDrain Installation and SuperSump Pump System
Once the products are installed, the final step is to concrete over top. If water would leak from the water heater, it would flow into the TrenchDrain and into the Sump System.
Surface Drainage System and Pump System Completed
Aaron and Steve completed the interior portion of this waterproofing job. These are important components needed to waterproof a basement. The job looks great, and the customers is thrilled to have a dry basement.
Discharge Line Installation
The discharge line is connected to the Sump Pump inside the basement. Once the pumping system pumps water through the line, it will be carried away from the home at a safe distance.
Concrete Sidewalk Obstacles
Sometimes there will be obstacles in the way of a seamless waterproofing job. Our crews are trained professionals to overcome those obstacles and create a solution to move forward with the job, even if that means digging a trench under a sidewalk instead of breaking it up.
IceGuard System
This patented design allows water to escape through its openings. This provides an exit when pipes freeze or become blocked, usually by ice or snow. Without it, your basement can flood even with a sump system installed!
